Effective Drugs Like Hyzaar 100/25 mg Helps Young Canadians Manage Hypertension
One in every five Canadian adults has hypertension or high blood pressure making it vital that they control it with effective Canadian drugs like Hyzaar 100/25 mg. As people grow older, there is every chance of getting high blood pressure. The only way to control it is to take the right medication and combine it with effective exercise and proper diet.
Blood pressure is measured as the force in the blood vessels when the heart beats and rests. The condition of hypertension exists when the force of blood passing through the blood vessels is too much. Losartan/HCTZ is the generic version of the drug and contains an angiotensin receptor blocker and a diuretic which is otherwise known as water pill. The drug acts in lowering high blood pressure.

High Blood Pressure Is Fast Becoming a Crisis in Canada
High blood pressure is affecting a large section of young Canadians and is becoming a national crisis according to health authorities. The reasons attributed to it are physical inactivity, diabetes, and a higher rate of obesity.
Stephen Samis, director of health policy at the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada revealed, "There are more than 250,000 young Canadians in their 20s and 30s with high blood pressure." The statement was part of a report published in January 2010 that brought to light that the rate of hypertension has doubled in 15 years.
Statistics Canada had earlier reported In February 2010 that one-fifth of the total adult Canadian population has hypertension. The results were compiled using automated measurements of blood pressure and blood pressure medication usage as reported by patients.
There was a direct relation established between hypertension and age. A 2% rise was seen in the age group of 20 to 39, a 19% increase in the age group 40 to 59, and a 53% increase in the age group of 60 to 79.
These figures were expected by the medical fraternity in Canada. The director of research at the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Marco di Buono spoke on CBC News and predicted that obesity was likely to have a staggering effect on the physiological growth of children in Canada. In another 10 years, people in the age group of 20 to 30 would suffer from hypertension, high cholesterol, or become a target of multiple risk factors leading to heart disease.
These are self-reported figures that have been accumulated, so the actual incidence of high blood pressure could be much higher in the future.
