A good desert boot is worth its weight in gold
Harsh punishing and tough environments and locations demand something extra of our bodies. One way to protect our bodies from some of that harshness and punishment is by wearing the correct kit. A desert boot is designed with desert and extreme heat in mind and they will perform well in these conditions. The right desert boot will help keep feet cool and they will allow air to circulate ensuring feet to stay dry inside the boot. A desert boot will also offer superb traction and cushioning on the sole to enable ease of movement over the ever-shifting sandy terrain.
The desert boot is kind of a place specific boot but it doesn't have to be. The desert boot has been popular as fashion and leisurewear for many years as the manufacturers build in style as well as performance and durability. The demand for desert boots by the military is still huge, as they know they can rely on them to keep their feet supported and comfortable in those tough conditions. There is no reason why you or I can't buy boots labelled as a desert boot as we have legitimate reasons for wanting some whether it be for work or leisure. It's crucial that military personnel have as much in their arsenal as possible to help keep them safe and their kit and all apparel help with that. Sadly in the past some military personnel have been sent into conflict very poorly equipped and that is something that should never happen again.
Another thing military men and women need from their kit is comfort. As said sometimes in the past military have been sent out improperly equipped to do their job. If personnel are worrying about equipment and kit they aren't concentrating on their job 100% and that is dangerous. The footwear military have should be the best as it gives them one last thing to worry about. A desert boot that fits well, is supportive and comfortable will not distract, and in fact can help with concentration because there's no discomfort. If you have discomfort or pain in your feet then it becomes something you can't ignore and you can only think of trying to get comfort back.
In WWI there was so little kit to go round, the men were sent out to war having to share tin helmets and sometimes boots! Thankfully that no longer happens, but military are faced with buying better kit than the standard issue. Let's face it if you were being sent out to fight in conflict areas then you would want the best available to you and if that means buying your own then so be it.
