Is the Israeli Navy capable of military operations against Iran?
If and when the air strike on Iranian military and nuclear facilities happens, will the Israeli Navy be providing a supporting role?
Answer:
No... The Israeli navy is far too limited to do anything major. And in fact, they would be at severe danger of being destroyed, especially if locked in a war. Keep in mind that an attack on Iran would be condemned by Egypt, Turkey, Syria etc... Also, the Israeli navy would have to sail from the Red Sea and around to go to the Persian gulf, by which time, Iran will have fortified it's artillery and it's own navy would have a chokehold on the area.
I'd say the real power of Israel against Iran will come from the air force. It will need to be swift and calculated since most countries will not allow a flyover for attack. Israel needs to damage and destroy as many ports and runways as much as possible to stop a counter-attack.
Let's not hope it will come to that...
