Hairspray is the story of a bubbly student named Tracy Turnblad, a hopeful dancer who wishes to earn a place on a neighbouring TV programme named the Corny Collins Show. The programme is in reality based on a Baltimore-based television series named the Buddy Dean Show in Baltimore, Maryland.
Tracy is nameless in the performing arts arena when she tries out, regardless she is picked for one of the performing parts and against awfully long odds she becomes a dancing star almost overnight. Tracy is emboldened by this newfound status, & she comes to the decision to use her new fame to bring about positive developments to the television show. The basic motive for these positive developments is to do with race. Tracy hopes to racially fuse the TV program, & as anyone may well guess, she is faced with a serious amount of conflict.
Hairspray set up shop in the West End in London in 2007, opening for the media at the Shaftesbury Theatre on October eleventh, before being uncovered to the public at its main opening on October 30, two-thousand & seven. The musical play has featured some well known actors -- Michael Ball plays the character of Edna Turnblad, Tracy's very own mother, providing an excellent interpretation in this testing female part, whilst Mel Smith played joke shop proprietor Wilbur Turnblad, Tracy's father. Hairspray the musical has received several encouraging mentions from critics & musical theatre fans alike. Jacqueline remarked: “I have been to see the play four times thus far and I will surely be going back again next week & a few more times after that. I love the show and wish they could stay on much longer. Ben Ellis is incredible as link and Leanne Jones as Tracey & Michael Ball, well they are all fantastic. The theatre show hairspray is unquestionably my favourite, simply because its cheerful and if you are feeling unhappy then it is guaranteed to make you feel so happy. I definitely give it a 10 out of 10 - I love it well done everyone.
