Two Resourceful Strategies To Give Back To Your Community
The dream society would mean no more war, no more hardship, no more poverty and no more persecution. Sad to say, but we are not living in a perfect humanity. At least not yet. We see propensity around us. Not everyone is not born with wealthy parents. In fact, there are people who still have to drudge so that their kids can have a good training and to bring food on the table. Even though, we are not living in the same conditions as some of us are fortunate to be born rich, it is basic that we learn how to reciprocate to the community. Any person can make a difference. Eagerness and dedication are necessary to reach out and to help others. Cited below are some of the things that we can do to give back to the community.
Garage Sales For A Cause
Garage sales are very desirable for profit or non profit. Aside from making others happy, we can also benefit from a cleaner and more orderly room that will become after selecting all the stuff to donate. To start, pick a good cause which the money will go to. Then get three boxes. Label them as follows: First box: things to stay. Second box: things to contribute. Third box: things to throw away.
Go through old drawers and cabinets and find reusable clothes. Drop them to their appropriate boxes. However, get rid of those worn out clothes that are no longer functional. Go through the second box and check the condition of the wardrobe to check if they are still wearable. Aside from attire, add items that people are interested to buy like books, old lanterns, table and other stuff that are still functional.
After piling all the boxes, select the date of the garage sale. Ask contacts if they want to volunteer. On the day of the sale, put a box for monetary contributions. The donation box is for those who are not attracted to buy, but would like to extend help through monetary support. Put up paper chain to tell everyone about the garage sale. After the garage sale, donate the money to the selected cause. Donate also those things that were not bought.
Organize A Soup Kitchen
Starvation and poverty are 2 of the largest problems we are facing today. Ideally, we should be eating good balanced diet thrice a day. Regrettably, not al can afford to eat a good meal. One way to extend help is to organize a soup kitchen. Find people who are eager to help in this project. Meet and share fresh ideas. Pick a date and plan the menu. List the group of people who will benefit from the soup kitchen feeding program. It can be the children in the bordering orphanage or the group of sick children in the hospital. Coordinate with other organizations and groups as well. To make the soup kitchen fun and bubbly, ask friends and family members to sing a song or prepare a dance number. There are groups of medical practitioners who are willing to help in proceeds and community work, ask them for their support. They can check the kids’ health while those in charge of the soup kitchen are giving out bowls of soups and other nutritional food.
At present, people are learning to give and to reach out. Money is not everything. We can dedicate our time, service and talents to make others feel that they are not alone. By being selfless we are giving back to the community and making a difference today.

Has anyone heard of the Union Nickel Company in the Civil War Era?
I have found a old spoon and it looks like a spoon from the civil war era. Matched it up to one that I had in a old book. On the back of it it states that it was made by the Union Nickel Company. I have not been able to find anything on this company online. Does anyone know anything about them? Was this the company the Union used to make flatware? Just have a few questions. Thank you for everyones help.
